Our signature material: salmon leather

Salmon leather is central to STUDIO EBN’s bags and accessories. Its distinctive texture brings character to our designs and reflects our connection to the North.

From surplus skin to leather

We use salmon leather made from surplus fish skins from the Norwegian aquaculture industry. The skins are tanned in Iceland, transforming a by-product of food production into a material for bags and accessories.

Working with this existing resource is a considered part of our approach to materials.

A material that shapes the design

Each salmon skin has its own pattern and natural variations. These details give the leather its character and each finished piece an individual expression.

The size and shape of the skins also guide the design process. Working with smaller skins calls for careful placement and thoughtful construction, making the material an integral part of how each piece comes together.
